It’s hard to share stressful feelings to people who are not fellow believers who are also suffering. The clichés are thick, and we beat ourselves up with all the “shoulds” that a “good Christian” should do. Our only comfort is in Jesus because He suffered also, so He knows what we’re going through. The world outside our souls really can’t help us in times of great pain and stress. Yet as humans, we are bound to look for help, at least that is what I did with an FMS diagnosis, a divorce, an excommunication (church didn’t believe in divorce), and an assignment to teach Science to 740 elementary school kids! This all happening AT THE SAME TIME! I spent 10 years in my pursuit of answers. Outside my soul, I could not find any, only bandaids to relieve the symptoms of the moment, which was discouraging.
But discouragement does not cost us points with God. He can use that emotion to further our depth of trust! Our Heavenly Father cradles us in His loving arms because we are His delightful child. Remember that He has already walked this path of ours and is doing so again, carrying us. If we look over our shoulders we will see our past life and the stepping-stones God placed to walk through the turbulent times. Look ahead and know that the stepping-stones are already in place ahead of us even if we can’t see them.God loves us very much. From my experiences, that is all I can ever be really sure of and trust in. I pray Jesus’ peace that passes all understanding will cover you through this period of discouragement. It will be enough!
