Diagnosing FMS Saves Money
Patients who receive an FM diagnosis reduce their health care visits and associated medical costs substantially as compared to their years before a diagnosis was made. An economic study in Great Britain looked at these medical costs and determined that not only do patients pay more, but also various health resources are strained to provide diagnostic tests, medications, specialist referrals, and visits to the general practitioner. And if just 10 percent of people with FM were currently undiagnosed, this could amount to millions of dollars per year.
The results of this economic study can be read on the Latest News section of our website.
